Andros has an area of 374 sq km. The highest mountains
are Petalo and Kouvara (maximum altitude of 997 meters
at the top of
Prophet Elias). There are four rivers in the island, which are coming
from west to east within a few fertile valleys. The rivers of Andros are Arni which falls to Lefka, Megalos Potamos which falls to Paraporti (Chora),
Achla which falls to Achla beach and Dipotama which falls to Syneti.
Andros has a lot gifts to give visitor. Is the most overgrown island in
Cyclades. The rich vegetation of Andros consists of oaks, plane trees,
olive trees, cypress, walnut and lemon trees. Andros is known for its
spring sources. The best known is the spa of Sarizas. The mineral water
is bottled in Sariza and distributed all over Greece. Known sources are
also Lezina, Zenio in Kouvaras, Koumoulos in Menites, Meliti and Metochi
in Strapouries, Abyssos in Livadia, Akoi and Livada in Lamyra. The
clerical villages of Andros are ideal for touring. The most active is
Andros (Chora), Gavrio (port), Batsi, Apikia and Paleopoli. Most of
Andros’ beaches have fine white sand or pebbles. Some are so isolated
that they are accessible only by sea.
Visitor can reach Andros island by ship. By ferry from Rafina, Attica
you need two hours for port of Gavrio.

Andros has generally mild climate with soft winters, while meltemia responsible for the cool summers.
